Elm Tree Elementary's Pre-K list opens with the backpack: one regular-size pack, no toddler or mini bags, big enough to hold a folder and notebook. The rest follows in the school's order, from spare clothes to tissues, and the school asks that everything is labeled and handed to the teacher within the first two days. Brightwheel's family list adds a few comfort items. This is one school's list, so check yours before buying, and it leaves out supplies a teacher would stock.

Why these items are on the list

  1. Regular-size backpack, 1. Elm Tree says no toddler or mini bags; it must fit the folder and notebook.
  2. Two spare clothing sets. Elm Tree lists shirt, pants, underwear and socks for each set.
  3. Plastic pocket folders, 2. Any color, according to Elm Tree.
  4. Liquid hand soap, 3 bottles. Elm Tree asks for 3 bottles of liquid hand soap per student.
  5. Blanket and crib sheet. Elm Tree asks for a sheet to cover the mat and no fuzzy, thick or big blankets.
  6. Gallon zip bags, 1 pack. Elm Tree specifies the 1 gallon size.
  7. Copy paper, 1 pack. Elm Tree's Pre-K list asks for this for each student.
  8. Disinfecting wipes, 3 bottles. Elm Tree also asks for 1 disinfecting spray.
  9. Paper towels, 5 rolls. Elm Tree says Ultra Strong is preferred.
  10. Baby wipes, 3 packs. Listed by Elm Tree among the required Pre-K supplies.
  11. Tissues, 2 big boxes. Elm Tree asks for big boxes.
  12. Water bottle with child's name. Elm Tree and Brightwheel both list a water bottle.
  13. Indoor shoes or slippers. Brightwheel lists these under footwear families can provide.
  14. Lunchbox from home. Brightwheel includes a lunchbox in its feeding items for families.
  15. Label supplies and spare clothes. Elm Tree asks for your child's name on supplies and extra clothing.
