The two lists open differently. TeacherLists starts with a backpack and glue sticks. Union Hill Elementary starts with a 1.5-inch binder with a clear cover pocket and an eight-tab divider set. After that they agree on Ticonderoga #2 pencils, wide-ruled paper, scissors, highlighters, dry erase markers and a pencil pouch. Counts vary by school, so check whether your teacher has posted a list before you buy. This list combines the main items from both lists, so you can see them in one place.
Why these items are on the list
- One backpack. TeacherLists starts its list here with a single backpack.
- 1.5-inch 3-ring binder. Union Hill wants a clear pocket on the cover.
- 8-tab plastic page dividers. Union Hill wants plastic dividers with pockets and inserts, one set.
- Ticonderoga #2 pencils, 2 to 3 boxes. Union Hill asks for two boxes, TeacherLists three. Match your school's number.
- Pencil pouch. Union Hill accepts a hard or soft sided pouch.
- Wide-ruled filler paper, 3-hole punched. Reinforced paper. Union Hill requires one package and lists a second as optional; TeacherLists lists two.
- Wide-ruled spiral notebooks. Union Hill asks for at least 100 pages. TeacherLists asks for three notebooks.
- Composition notebooks, wide ruled. TeacherLists lists three of these, separate from the spiral notebooks.
- Pocket folders, 3. The three-folder count comes from the TeacherLists quick-start list.
- Glue sticks. Union Hill asks for one package of three or more; TeacherLists asks for four.
- Kids' scissors, 5-inch pointed. The Union Hill list specifies a pointed pair for ages 4 and up.
- Colored pencils, 1 box. Both lists ask for one box of Crayola colored pencils.
- Washable markers, 1 box. Both lists ask for one box; Union Hill wants thin or fine tip.
- Dry erase markers, 3. Low odor, thin tip and black is the Union Hill spec.
- Highlighters in any color. Union Hill asks for one, TeacherLists for two. Union Hill allows any color.
- Pens, 3 assorted colors. Union Hill specifies red, blue, black or purple; its listing calls them correcting pens.
- Tissues, 2 boxes. TeacherLists asks for two boxes of facial tissue.
- Disinfecting wipes, 1 to 2 canisters. TeacherLists lists two; Union Hill marks one as optional.
- Hand sanitizer, 1 bottle. A classroom item on the TeacherLists quick-start list.
- Paper towel rolls. TeacherLists asks for two rolls. Union Hill does not list paper towels.
- Gallon reclosable storage bags. TeacherLists asks for two boxes. Union Hill does not list them. Confirm with your school.
- Headphones, Panasonic brand. TeacherLists lists one Panasonic headphones item; the Union Hill list does not.
- Scotch tape and clear packing tape. Both are optional wish-list items on the Union Hill list.
Tick items off as you buy them and keep your school's own list open beside this one to adjust counts. Share it with another parent so nothing gets bought twice.
