Cinderella Bridez counts 11 beauty items for a bridal emergency kit. A Clarence House checklist and a WeddingWire forum thread cover much of the same ground, and a sewing kit, safety pins, hairspray and bobby pins show up in all three. That shared ground is what this list is built on, with the comfort and first aid items Clarence House and the forum posters mention added alongside. Picture one pouch or tote, carried for you by a bridesmaid or relative. Your makeup artist's own kit stays out of it, and so does anything your venue supplies.
Why these items are on the list
- Mini sewing kit. Needle and thread for hooks and hems. Cinderella Bridez, Clarence House and the WeddingWire poster all list it.
- Safety pins, assorted sizes. Cinderella Bridez suggests tiny, medium and jumbo sizes, for dupattas, saris and lehengas.
- Travel-size hairspray. All three sources name it, and Cinderella Bridez adds that it tames flyaways too.
- Extra bobby pins, hair ties. Good for reinforcing a style, or for fixing a bridesmaid's bun mid-dance.
- Lipstick or lip gloss. Cinderella Bridez suggests asking your makeup artist which exact shade they used.
- Blotting sheets or powder. Takes the shine off between rituals and photos. Cinderella Bridez says outdoor events need it more.
- Eyelash glue, tweezers. For a lifted lash corner. The tweezers also deal with stray brow hairs or jewelry.
- Mints or mouth spray. Cinderella Bridez says skip the gum, since it can mess up lipstick and photos.
- Packet of tissues. Cinderella Bridez says blot rather than wipe, so your makeup stays where it is.
- Stain remover wipes or pen. Cinderella Bridez and the WeddingWire poster both list it. Handy for light-colored outfits.
- Fashion tape. Clarence House suggests it for loose hems and straps.
- Clear nail polish. Clarence House uses it on chipped nails, and Cinderella Bridez for snags in an outfit.
- Pain relievers, antacids. Cinderella Bridez says pack them just in case, and the WeddingWire poster packed both. Pick what suits you.
- Band-Aids, blister pads. Clarence House suggests them for new-shoe blisters and minor cuts.
- Travel-size deodorant. Cinderella Bridez lists mini deodorant or body wipes as a bonus item.
- Feminine hygiene items. Clarence House names them, and so does the WeddingWire thread.
- Small scissors. A WeddingWire commenter called them a must, and Clarence House includes small scissors too.
- Phone charger or power bank. Clarence House lists a charger for communication and photos.
- Contact lens case, solution. Cinderella Bridez lists it for anyone who wears lenses.
- Sunscreen and bug spray. The WeddingWire poster says not to forget these for an outdoor wedding.
- Printed timeline, contact list. Clarence House suggests planner, venue coordinator and family numbers.
- Granola bars, small waters. The WeddingWire poster planned to add these to each bag.
Share it with the bridesmaid who is carrying the kit, and the two of you can tick along on your phones as the pouch fills up. Nobody has to keep a separate list in their head.
When to use it
Open it a week or two before the wedding while there is still time to buy the items, then again the night before to pack.
